ChatGPT Has Started Showing Ads in Türkiye: Where Does Your Brand Stand in This New Storefront?

ChatGPT has begun showing ads to users in Türkiye. Your customers now see brands right where they ask their questions. This article explains what changed and how your brand can take its place in this new storefront through two doors: ads and being cited as a source.

What happened?

As of 17 September 2026, ChatGPT has started showing ads to users in Türkiye. The advertising model tested in the United States earlier this year and rolled out across Europe over the summer is now live in Türkiye. In short: when your customers ask ChatGPT about a product, a service or a solution, they can now see brands beneath the answer.

This is one of the biggest new storefronts in digital marketing since Google added ads to its search results. The difference: the user does not type a keyword here, they describe their problem. The ad appears right in the middle of that problem.

What does the user see?

Ads are shown to users on the free plan and the Go plan; the paid higher tiers have no ads. The ad sits beneath the AI's answer, clearly labelled 'Sponsored', and does not mix into the answer itself. Targeting is based on the topic of the current chat; OpenAI says it is not using targeting based on personal history at launch.

So your ad is not shown to an unrelated audience; it is shown to the person asking, at that very moment, about the problem you solve. In advertising this is called intent. And intent is the most valuable targeting signal there is.

Two doors for your brand: ads and being a source

The first door is advertising. Opening a ChatGPT ad account from Türkiye is now possible; campaigns can be set up for reach, website traffic or conversions. A well-built campaign puts your brand in front of the customer at the moment of decision.

The second door is being a source. When ChatGPT answers, it cites certain websites and mentions certain brands as recommendations. This visibility cannot be bought; it is earned by having a website that AI answer engines can read, trust and quote directly. We call this AI search optimization (AIO).

The strongest result comes from running both together: ads show you today, being a source keeps you there tomorrow. We plan both in one programme so that your visibility does not reset to zero the day you pause the ads.

Who is this opportunity for right now?

For every business whose customers ask questions before deciding: clinics and aesthetic centres, hotels and restaurants, e-commerce brands, consulting and software companies, manufacturers and B2B firms. Questions like 'which clinic can I trust', 'where do I buy this product' and 'which software suits our company' are moving from the search box to the chat window.

Early movers win, because this storefront is not crowded yet. Taking your place before competitors start appearing under the same questions is far cheaper than trying to win that place back a year later.

First move: get ready in three steps

One: measurement. Before running ads, measure which questions bring customers and whether your brand is mentioned in AI answers. A channel that is not measured cannot be managed.

Two: the right page. If a visitor from an ad lands on a page where nobody completes the form, or which is slow or broken on mobile, the budget drains. Every campaign needs a fast, measured landing page with one job.

Three: start becoming a source. Write your services in a language that answers directly, add frequently asked questions, set up structured data. This is not a one-day job; the brands that start today move ahead.

At Piküp Medya, digital marketing, AI search optimization, web and software sit under one roof; your ad account setup, measurement, landing page and source-building work come from one team. Every engagement starts by measuring the current situation. A free introductory meeting is enough to see together where your brand stands in ChatGPT today.

Frequently asked questions

Who sees ChatGPT ads in Türkiye?

Users on the free plan and the Go plan. Paid higher tiers such as Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu do not show ads. Ads appear beneath the answer with a 'Sponsored' label.

Can I advertise on ChatGPT from Türkiye?

Yes. As of 17 September 2026 an ad account can be opened from Türkiye and campaigns can be set up for reach, traffic or conversions. You can work with Piküp Medya for setup, measurement and campaign management.

Is it possible to appear in ChatGPT without advertising?

Yes. ChatGPT cites websites and mentions brands when it answers; this visibility is not bought, it is earned with a site that answer engines can read and trust. This is called AI search optimization (AIO) and should be planned together with ads.

Is a ChatGPT ad different from a Google ad?

The user does not type a keyword, they describe their problem, and the ad is shown according to the topic of the current chat. That makes a message that answers the user's question directly, and a landing page that solves it, even more important than on Google.

Where should I start?

With measurement: see which questions bring customers and whether your brand is mentioned in AI answers. Then a fast landing page with one job, and source-building work. You can plan these three steps together in Piküp Medya's free introductory meeting.
